When I first began working with natural pigments, I used to brush small swatches of color onto scraps of paper, never really thinking much of them. They were sample tests, references for tone and light. But looking back, I realize those tiny paintings have been with me through every chapter of my life.

Years ago, after leaving an abusive relationship, I turned to nature to find balance. I spent long days outdoors gathering, grinding, and creating pigments from the earth. Slowly, I began to find myself again, and my art shifted with me. I moved away from figurative work, which had always felt like something I should be doing, (something very much tied to proving my worth,) and leaned into abstraction instead. That shift became symbolic of my own leap into the unknown. Letting go of what was expected of me, and trusting that even if no one was there to catch me, I would learn to land on my own.

Those small pigment swatches became markers of that change. Each one represents a moment of being present, having courage to face the unknown, and to keep creating despite feeling fear. They represent allowing things to unfold at their own pace, and trusting what emerges from the process.

Now, through my Mail Club, you can receive one of these small paintings each month, a physical reminder that healing, growth, and beauty often comes from the most simple gestures.
